The Wild Game and BBQ Cookoff is a two-day, family-friendly celebration held at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas. All proceeds benefit Yaga’s Children’s Fund, supporting charities that serve the children of Galveston County.

This exciting event brings together top cooking talent to compete in seven categories: Fajitas, Seafood, Chicken, Chef’s Choice, Pork Ribs, Brisket, and Wild Game. The cookoff is sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA), with Chicken, Pork Ribs, and Brisket competitions awarding IBCA points toward the State Championship. Friday’s competitions are highlighted by the Friday Night Fundraiser, where sponsors are recognized and celebrated for their support.

Saturday is the main event. The day kicks off with a lively 5K Fun Run through the scenic Moody Gardens grounds, followed by a full lineup of activities for all ages. Families can enjoy a dedicated children’s area with obstacle courses and a petting zoo, while live entertainment from local bands and school groups fills the stage throughout the day. Food and beverages are available for purchase, ensuring no one leaves hungry.

In addition to the cookoff, guests can take advantage of Moody Gardens’ world-class attractions, including the Rainforest Pyramid and Aquarium. A Silent Auction features exciting prizes such as vacation getaways, themed baskets, fine dining experiences, and local adventures. The festivities culminate with the Awards Ceremony, where the best cooks of the weekend are honored.
