Yaga’s Children’s Fund Wild Game and BBQ Cook-Off is one of Galveston County’s signature community events, bringing people together for a weekend of great food, friendly competition, and fundraising that supports children and families in need. The 2026 event will be held May 8 to 9, 2026 at Moody Gardens in Galveston, and this year’s event also celebrates the 30th anniversary of Yaga’s Children’s Fund. It has grown into a community tradition that includes the Cook-Off, 5K Fun Run, Silent Auction, Kids Area, and more, all centered around the mission of Yaga’s Children’s Fund.

As an IBCA-sanctioned event, the Wild Game and BBQ Cook-Off gives teams the opportunity to compete in a recognized, well-run cook-off while supporting a meaningful cause. Cook teams are a big part of what makes the weekend special, and team registration secures your cook space while giving our team the details needed to coordinate setup, power and support needs, and event communications before the weekend so your team can arrive ready to cook and compete.
